Last week, Edeyo Foundation had its 5th Annual Gives Hope Ball and birthday celebration for its founder Unik Ernest at The DL on the Lower East Side. Edeyo Foundation is an organization which works to improve the lives of Haitian children through education. Kelly Bensimon and Boris Kodjoe hosted the event. Other celebrities in attendance included Nigel Barker, Tyson Beckford, Tracy Stern, Leesa Rowland, Larry Wohl, Cassandra Seidenfeld, and Jason Binn. The Consul General to Haiti Charles Forbin was also at the event. A live and silent auction took place during the evening and music was provided by Etienne Deyans.
A few guests were recognized for their involvement with Haiti. Kelly Bensimon received the Edeyo Humanitarian Award for her efforts and Nigel Barker was presented with the Edeyo Hope Award for his humanitarian endeavors and documentary work exposing the conditions in Haiti. Their overall work has made a dramatic difference in providing awareness and resources.
The event raised crucial funds that will help to rebuild schools and provide students with a safe learning environment, as well as healthy food and water on a daily basis. It truly does make an impact on the well-being of the children in Haiti and is such a worthy cause!
